New Stuff!

Yes, something finally happened around here...

No volcano eruption...
No baby, yet...
but...

a job!

Debbie just got a job as a Grant Assistant with the Kenaitze Indian Tribe. It is a temporary position until June -- perfect for the July due date! She starts on the 16th.

We're also house hunting, and are hoping to be able to make an offer soon.

Still snowing! But we can tell Spring is around the corner because there is a family of rabbits living under our stairs, and boy are they fat.

Until next time... *The Stantons*

  1. Oh Debbie, you're young and you've got your health. What do you want with a job?! Ultimately, it eats into the amount of time you'll spend filleting King Salmon and skinning elk hides.

  2. So you have dinner living under the stairs, are those stairs outdoors or indoors? Arrrgggh, it's 10 degrees warmer in Clam Gulch than it is in West Chester.

    Here is a convenient recipe for your house guests

    Moose and Rabbit Pie
    Ingredients

    * 2 ounces salt fat pork
    * 1 large onion, chopped
    * 1 lb moose, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
    * 1 medium rabbit, skinned and quartered
    * water

    ROUX

    * 2 tablespoons butter
    * 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

    PIE DOUGH

    * 3 cups all-purpose flour
    * 2 teaspoons baking powder
    * 1/2 teaspoon salt
    * 1/2 cup butter
    * 1/2 cup shortening
    * 1 egg, beaten
    * milk

    Directions

    1. Cut salt fat pork into thin slices, about 1/8 inch thick, and render out fat in a large pot, turning slices often. Remove and discard the remaining salt fat pork.
    2. To the fat in the pot, add onion, moose and rabbit, and sauté until browned. Add enough water to barely cover, and simmer until meat is tender. Remove bones from rabbit; cut meat into 1/2 ich pieces and return to pot.

    Don't forget to use your ulu knife...

  3. Hello you two & 1/2. The scenery looks wonderful, excpet for the snow of course. We are getting rain and flooding again. But it goes with the spring I guess.
    We have a new news director, Nick Wilkens. He started Monday. He reminds me of you Ben. He has the same kind of enthusiasm.
    Congrats on the job Debbie. It sounds interesting work with an Indian tribe. Give us details when you get them. Better go for now. The guys are back from sales training so I have to really do some work today. Take care.
