Halloween 2010!

It was a freezing, windy Halloween but we managed to build up a stockpile of candy and are keeping warm with the extra layers of fat :)
Sam = sock monkey (costume made with real socks!)
Debbie = flower
Ben = well... you guess [hint, it's political]

Fall in Alaska

Yes, it's Fall again, and not just because Sam is trying to learn to walk :) Here are a few nice pictures of the little man:

Summer 2010

Well, it's almost the end of the summer and we've been having so much fun that we've forgotten to post our pictures and stories. We'll start off with a slideshow of pictures from when Ben's parents (Lon and Kay) came to visit us in late June - early July. The first 3 pictures are actually from Lon visiting Ben's grandmother and great aunt Vincil in Carthage, MO, but we wanted to leave them in here. So here they are:

The next set we just called "outdoors". It includes pictures of Ben working in the yard, Debbie's raft trip down the Kenai River, and some salmon dipnetting on the beach:

We also spent some time inside during the summer, as is documented by our "home life" pictures. They mostly consist of us playing with Sammy, but a few also include some special visitors we had in late June:

We took a few pictures on Sam's actual 1st birthday, and those are here for your perusal:

Finally, we have some pictures from the end of the summer, just taken this last month. They include some at-home pictures of Sam, some pictures of Sam taken in Arizona, and some of Ben with his family in Topeka, Kansas:

Hope you enjoyed this tour through our summer! We're still making the most of it before the snow hits.

Master of the Universe

Here are some pictures of Ben with this Master of Humanities diploma from Tiffin University!!!:

And some pics of the family in February (warning: those offended by baby bottoms should not view this slideshow):

Can't believe how quickly the time has flown! February is over and Sammy is almost eight months old. He has his first two teeth and is starting to figure out self-propulsion through any means necessary. We're finally having fun outside of the house, as demonstrated by this weekend's list of events including a community dialogue roundtable, bbq/jam session, and birthday party. Looking forward to many fun events as the weather turns spring-like :)

All the pictures on our blog can also be found (and downloaded) here.

2010: and this time it's personal

Okay, not sure what the title's about, but here are some fun pictures:

Some cute pictures of Sam on New Year's

Pictures at the pool and our lovely Scrabble table

Well, we have almost been in Alaska for a year. That is crazy to think about! In some ways it feels like we just left Washington (and all our friends there), but it also feels like we've had Sam for 10 years now, so I guess it all evens out. We are doing our best to not get cabin fever and it helps that we have such a lovely cabin. The sun is starting to peek out again, so I think we'll survive the rest of the winter. Ben is working part-time for Kenai Peninsula College as a writing tutor along with his day job, and I'm just looking forward to all the traveling we hope to do this year. Ben also finished his thesis project and is formatting it for binding so it will be added to the Tiffin University library (hurray!). Sam is cutting his first teeth and is close to crawling, although he currently moves backward when he tries to move forward for a toy. He's our son, so of course he's a little mixed up! Other than that, we look forward to another glorious year of getting our act together :)
